Like everyone else this year, Sabrina Carpenter's songs have been living rent-free in my head for weeks. I fear it's become my entire personality. So what's the only logical thing for a muralist to do? Paint it on a wall, of course.
Behold, my latest mural, a tribute to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Busy Woman”. The cheeky, retro, tongue-in-cheek aesthetic translates perfectly to a bold flat graphic painting. Here's a look behind the process of painting it.
The Composition
The concept for the mural started with a bold, stylized portrait of Sabrina in the top left corner. It's the heart of the entire piece. Around her, I've included six other sections, each featuring easter eggs from the lyrics.
The color palette is my favorite element of the piece. It had to match the song’s sugary and unapologetically feminine energy. To achieve that, I included a mix of electric pinks and periwinkles paired with cool green tones. The composition itself was designed to be intentionally asymmetrical, inspired by the style of a retro comic book.

The Process
After sketching the design on Procreate, I projected it onto a large slab of MDF and got to work. Filling in the base colors went quickly, but the details like Sabrina’s face and the little shadows for depth took more time. I used Behr paint in a matte finish to get that clean, polished look.
I painted the small details and lettering elements with a mix of fine brushes and Sharpie Creative Markers. Each detail was placed with intention, keeping the piece interesting without feeling overworked.
Final Thoughts
I'm nothing if not a fangirl, and this mural is a testament to that. It's an ode to not only my love of Sabrina Carpenter, but pop music in general. It's a fun visual reminder of embracing femininity.
If you’re ever in the mood for a mural that’s a nod to pop culture or any other fandom, I’m your girl. Let's work together!
